Working together to improve oral health

Improving oral health outcomes for children in Tower Hamlets, in a preventative way, relies on making every contact count through:

  • Universal children’s workforce access to high quality information, advice, and guidance – a whole system approach
  • Understanding the local context, including inequities and comorbidities
  • Oral health promotion through non-clinical professionals working with children, young people, and families
  • Building local confidence in having oral health conversations and signposting
  • Co-production of the offer for non-clinical professionals, children, young people, and families

Training offer

Happy Smiles training is available for non-clinical professionals through the Community Oral Health Service. 

Happy Smiles training is not clinical! It is designed to support non-clinical professionals in the children and young people’s workforce in Tower Hamlets to feel informed and confident in oral health conversations.

It:

  • Explores the links between oral health, poverty, nutrition, and healthy food access
  • Supports professionals to recognise structural barriers affecting families ability to maintain good oral health routines

Good oral health means better overall health.

Improving oral health outcomes for children in Tower Hamlets, in a preventative way, relies on making every contact count and a whole system approach.  We aim to support this through universal and non-clinical training to anyone who supports babies, children, young people, parents, and families in Tower Hamlets. Taking part in our training offer will help build local confidence in having oral health conversations and signposting through access to high quality information, advice, and guidance.  You will develop your awareness and understanding of the local context, including inequities and comorbidities so that you can best support our ambitions for babies, children and young people in Tower Hamlets.

Who can access training?

Happy Smiles training is available to anyone who supports babies, children, young people, parents, and families in Tower Hamlets. 

Happy Smiles training is not clinical. It is designed to support professionals in the babies, children and young people’s workforce to feel informed and confident in oral health conversations and explores:

  • Links between oral health, poverty, nutrition, and healthy food access
  • Structural barriers affecting people’s ability to maintain good oral health routines

The training can be accessed by individuals or whole teams.

Online and face to face Happy Smiles training dates will be run regularly on pre-planned dates.
